Grape seeds contain a remarkable complex of flavanols known as OPC
(oligomeric proanthocyanidins) discovered to have 20 times more
potency than vitamin C and 50 times more potency than vitamin E.
Varied health benefits observed over the past 45 years confirm that
OPC has specific affinity for connective tissue (collagen) and helps
to strengthen blood vessels. The integrity of collagen based tissue
is due to what is known as ìcross-linking.î Collagen
forms delicate strands of microfibrils that intertwine in pairs,
like twisted rope. As we age this collagen is oxidized and becomes
rigid. This hardening leads to high blood pressure, eye, skin, joint
and cartilage disorders.
